Its a high chair, not a throne, Princess...

This is why Momma's don't get showers. In the shower this morning (only my second for the week, mind you), I hear blood curdling screams. Princess was in her high chair, so I knew she was safe, but the quality of those screams made my heart stop. I rushed to rinse the soap off my face and came out to the dining room still mostly dripping to find that Princess was upset because she knocked her oatmeal bowl to the floor and a dog was laying next to it. Seriously? I got out of my shower early for this?

Aaaaaaaah, the joys of motherhood! :-)

Can he, Momma?

So yesterday we had a few friends over for lunch. Auntie A and Uncle J (both adopted by our family, but not a couple--he's Hubby's best friend, she's my best friend) were eating with us. The Boy wanted to sit between them, as they are two of his favorite people on earth! The Hubby and I actually got to sit next to one another, which was nice. Soon The Boy started messing with Uncle J, playing "staring contest" and then "blinking contest." The Hubby had to get in on the action and closed his eyes, telling The Boy that he was "blinking so fast, you can't even see my eyes moving!" Laughing, The Boy says, "You can't really do that, Dada!!!" Then he leans over the table and whispers, "Can he, Momma??"

Priceless moments right there!

Yo Gabba Gabba has brainwashed my baby...

Seriously... Tonight, after a long, busy day, The Princess DEMANDED that I turn on "gabba gabba gabba gabba." Too tired to fight this battle, I turned it on. Immediately, fingers in her mouth and ear twisting like crazy, she settled down to stare dazedly at the television with a half-smile pasted on her face. The only times she moved where when I put her down and she curled up to put her head on my lap. Not a peep was heard... It was peacefully eery.

I don't know what it is, exactly, about this show that children like mine find appealing. It is strange and psychedelic and resembles something that might have come from the 1970s, but Princess thinks this is the cream of the crop of what is on television these days. I guess I'll take the 20 minutes or so of peace it affords me, but really... Yo Gabba Gabba?!!!

Sick Day

Today we're having a sick day. The Boy started feeling poorly after school yesterday. It was fairly evident, even at that point, that we would not be attending school today. When he began throwing up, there was no doubt left.

When he woke in the middle of the night, I was already up with The Princess, so The Hubs got up with him. But he only wanted Momma. So as soon as I was finished getting The Princess back to sleep, he and I came out to the couch and snuggled. His fever was high. I gave him some ibuprofen, but he threw it back up. So I put a cool cloth on the back of his neck, and he eventually drifted off to sleep curled up around my arm on the couch. <3

Just as I was about to drift back to sleep, The Princess beckoned from her room. So this Momma has been mostly awake since around 2:30am or so. I think I'm going to declare naptime in a little bit.

A little reminiscing...

Anyone looking at this blog will be able to tell that I haven't been very faithful with it. Sporadic doesn't even begin to cover my posts here. But today I went back and read some of my early posts, and the memories it brought back... wow! Priceless!!

So I am going to recommit to blogging about our parenting adventures. Those sweet, funny, cute little stories that seem to happen in everyday life around here. Things that I know I will never remember without some help! I probably won't remember to blog every day, but I will definitely try to make it a point as something sticks out to me, to put it down here.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming... :D

February 12's

So here are my 12 pictures from February...

The Girl got Piggy Paint in her Christmas stocking, and we decided on purple today!

The Boy got a truck toy, and he was quite intently placing the stickers on the correct places!

After a fever of 101.7 the night before, I was quite relieved to see 98.6 once again!!

Fabric I purchased to make some pretties for some lovely women in my life

(the other fabric)

The Girl LOOOOOOVES her mashed potatoes!!!

The Boy, proudly eating the bologna sandwich that he made for himself!

Playing outside in the "warmer" weather, with his RC truck, The Boy was having a little too much fun with the snowbanks!

My Rose of Sharon (heirloom plant, passed down from my Great Aunt to my Grandma to me)

The hunky Hubs and The Boy cleaning off the porch

The hunky Hubs... *swoon*

This look pretty much sums up The Girl... :D

I apologize that the quality of these photos aren't up to par. Its been a long, sick weekend for me, and I just wasn't able to put as much detail and concentration into the shots as I usually do. I hope next month will be better!!

Twelve on the 12's

I have begun a fun and interesting journey of documenting our year. On the 12th of each month, I will take pictures throughout the day. I will then choose 12 of those to publish. I hope this will be a fun way to watch us spend our year!

So here's my January 12's:

The Boy lost another tooth

Peeking out from his play hut

My wild child girly

My heirloom Rose of Sharon

One of my favorite trees in our yard

Having some quiet time

My man, cooking my dinner!

The Boy, sucked into the TV

Igor, the black lab

Sebastian, the Sheltie

The pile of laundry I have been ignoring

Martial, the Golden Retriever, grinning
